Sleep formula
Food supplement
Melatonin helps to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid necessary for the production of proteins involved in the synthesis of melatonin and serotonin. Vitamin B6 contributes to the maintenance of normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal homocysteine metabolism, normal protein and glycogen metabolism.

You’ve probably heard of
melatonin . It’s a hormone produced by the brain that helps regulate our circadian rhythm, the internal clock that regulates our sleep-wake cycle. Our body’s production of melatonin is dependent on exposure to light; it increases in the dark and decreases in bright light, such as daylight. So ideally, melatonin levels should naturally increase before bed to help us fall asleep, and decrease when we wake up in the morning to help us feel refreshed and alert. However, bright light from cell phones or computers before bed, or even turning on the bathroom light in the middle of the night, can disrupt our circadian rhythm and make it harder to sleep. Melatonin levels can also decrease as we age.
That’s why we combined
melatonin , which has been clinically proven to help people fall asleep and stay asleep, with two other natural sleep cycle elements: tryptophan and vitamin B6. Tryptophan is a precursor to melatonin and serotonin. Vitamin B6 is also part of the melatonin production chain: It helps convert tryptophan into melatonin. So these synergistic ingredients create a formula that can actually “put us to sleep” when we need it most.
Tryptophan (
Trp ) is one of the amino acids found in proteins.
In addition to protein biosynthesis, about 2 percent of dietary tryptophan is converted in the human liver to nicotinic acid (niacin, or vitamin B3). This is a very important intermediate from which NAD and NADP, which are involved in many oxidation-reduction reactions, are subsequently synthesized.
Tryptophan is also a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin, a circadian rhythm hormone, and melatonin.
Vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine) is important for normal brain development, nervous system health, and immune system health.
Vitamin B6 plays an important role in the synthesis of GABA, tryptophan, and serotonin, which affect sleep.
Vitamin B6 deficiency is linked to symptoms of insomnia and depression. Vitamin B6 helps produce the hormones serotonin and melatonin, which are important for restful sleep and mood. There is a strong link between depression and sleep disorders.
Scientific studies show that supplementation with tryptophan and vitamin B6 has a greater impact on reducing nighttime awakenings than melatonin alone.
